Enid’s Loren Simpson Athlete Spotlight Presented by Banc Central

Loren Simpson EHS
by Trina Walker
Loren Simpson’s strength is her versatility. From academics to athletics, Loren is a contender at Enid High. Loren is in cross country, volleyball, swim and track. She is the current valedictorian of her senior class and is active in student organizations. “I love showing that athletes can be academically inclined. Being an athlete can make you a more disciplined person inside and outside of the classroom,” she said.
For volleyball and cross country her passion comes from constantly striving to be her best and seeing others do the same. “I adore watching teammates and myself reach goals and grow in every aspect,” she said.
Loren began playing volleyball in fourth grade. At the time she was a basketball player. She and her friend, Hannah Turner, made a deal that they would play each other’s sport that year. Once Loren began playing volleyball she never looked back.
Loren’s parents and teammates keep her motivated. Her love for God inspires her to be as Christ-like as possible from day-to-day. Brionna Clayton is a big influence in her life. Loren says she wouldn’t be valedictorian in four sports or have the same work ethic today without Brionna’s influence. “I wouldn’t be the same without her.”
Loren also looks up to swimmer Riley Gaines. “She has impeccable work ethic, is an advocate for women’s sports and she demonstrates her Christian beliefs with such poise while remaining respectful to all people,” said Loren.
Loren is thankful to her parents, her brother Ryder, and her grandparents Don and Jean. There are too many friends to name but they know who they are. She just loves being surrounded by girls who share her love of the same sport.
