Enid High School’s Elizebeth Dougherty has a passion for playing softball. Currently a junior, Elizebeth plays the positions of catcher and outfielder for the Enid Plainsmen. Many would consider Elizebeth a softball veteran, having played softball for 13 years. Elizebeth accounted, “I started playing softball when I was four years old.”
Faith plays an integral part of Elizebeth’s life. Elizebeth stated, “Through the sport, I have been able to grow in my faith, and share Jesus’s love with others.”
In regards to what it means to represent her school and community as a student athlete, Elizebeth proclaimed, “I was born in Enid, Oklahoma, and I am honored to be a part of a team that represents my hometown.”
As far as what motivates Elizebeth, she explained, “What motivates me is being denied opportunities, playing the sport I love, and striving to become better.”
To become successful in softball, Elizebeth stated, “It has taken early-morning workouts, showing up to summer pride every day, extra hitting and catching lessons, and always arriving at the facility before my coaches.”
In terms of her biggest role model, Elizebeth stated, “My role models are Jesus, Coach Janna, and my family. Jesus gives me the strength and guidance and all that I do. Coach Janna has been there for me and supporting me and everything I do. My family are a role model because they always push me to my very best.”
Every student athlete has a memory that stands out as their favorite. Elizebeth stated, “My favorite memory happened when I hit my first home fun, because it felt amazing; my teammates and family were incredibly proud of me.”
In addition to playing softball for Enid High School, Elizebeth is involved in other extracurricular activities, including being apart of the FFA Organization, as well as being a member of The Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
After graduating from high school, Elizebeth plans on pursuing higher education. Elizebeth stated, “After graduating from high school, I plan to attend college. and play softball, getting my Bachelor’s Degree in either education or sports management.”
