Whether she is directing the offense on the basketball court or sprinting down the track, Enid High School junior Amarianna Solomon brings energy, focus, and a competitive drive to every opportunity.
Solomon is a point guard and shooting guard for the Plainsmen basketball program, though her primary role is at point guard. Responsible for setting the pace, creating opportunities, and helping keep her team organized, she has embraced the leadership responsibilities that come with handling the ball.
Her effort has not gone unnoticed. Solomon lists earning District 4 Third Team recognition as one of her proudest accomplishments so far. It is an achievement that reflects her impact on the court and gives her motivation to continue raising her game.
Away from basketball, Solomon is also a versatile member of Enid’s track and field team. She competes in the 4×100-meter relay, 4×200 relay, 400-meter dash and long jump, giving her another outlet for the speed and athleticism she brings to basketball.
“Basketball has taught me how to be a leader, but mostly it’s taught me how to keep my composure no matter the situation.”
Solomon’s faith is a major source of strength, particularly when the work becomes difficult. She credits God with helping her remain determined through challenges and with providing purpose beyond the scoreboard.
“God is my inspiration. He inspires me to keep going even on my hard days, the days I wanted to give up and cry. God is my why.”
Teammate Anabelle Miller has also made a lasting impact on Solomon. The two are entering their third year together, and Solomon appreciates Miller’s approach to the game and the example she sets every day.
“Anabelle Miller is a teammate that has left a big impression on me. Her love for the game, her leadership are so inspiring to me! She pushes me every day to be a better teammate and to work harder. I can’t wait for year three together!”
Solomon carries advice from head coach Aly Seng into every game: keep the motor running. She also thanked coach Tony Thomas for always believing in her.
