Enid’s Daniel Voth – FCA Spotlight – Presented By Slater Mechanical

By Derrick Smith

Daniel Voth is a part of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes group at Enid High School. He is more than just a member of the group, he is part of the worship band.

“I have some friends who invited me to start helping out with the worship this year,” he said. “I enjoy being part of a group with other believers. Being a believer helps me to make decisions and important life choices. I am so grateful to have the word of God whenever and wherever I may need help or encouragement in a tough situation. It also helps me to make good choices in the people I am around and my relationships with my girlfriend, family and friends.”

Daniel is a junior at Enid, where he is a member of the school choir. While he does not currently play sports, he has played in the past and says one of his coaches had a big impact on him.

“My basketball coach from third grade through freshman year, Steve Hoffsommer, had a huge impact on my life,” he said. “He taught me life skills and lessons that I’ll carry with me for the rest of my life. I could never thank him enough. Another person that has been influential in my life was my eighth grade bible teacher, Leland Streck. He has helped to guide me and help me navigate through life in the best ways possible.”

When he looks back to when he played basketball, there is one game that will always stand out for Voth.

“I was in the eighth grade and we were playing our last game of the season on the road,” he recalled. “I scored thirty-two points in that game. It was a huge night for me and being able to share it with my teammates made it even better.”

Daniel has had some great people that have been part of his life, but he says that he is thankful for everyone.

“I just want to say that I love the Lord and I am thankful for all the people that nurtured me throughout my life to lead me to be able to share that with my community through FCA.”
