John Crockett teaches AP Literature, Honors English IV, and serves as the Academic Team advisor and coach at Enid High School. Crockett is entering his 28th year as an educator with 23 of those years occurring at Enid High School district. Crockett began his education in Tennessee where he attended the Memphis Harding Academy before enrolling at Harding University in Searcy, AR. 

Throughout his life Crockett has had many educators who inspired him to join the teaching profession. He wanted to make a similar impact on students and provide a positive influence as others had done for him. 

“I was blessed with amazing teachers at all levels,” Crockett said. “The three teachers that made me want to teach humanities were my English teacher, Mr. Semore, my history teacher, Mr. Milson, and my World Religious teacher, Mr. Pinkerton.” 

Crockett enjoys watching his students learn and master new skills in the classroom. 

“I love imparting a love for learning in students,” Crockett said. “I love how every class is unique and each student brings a different talent to the classroom. I love helping students become a better version of themselves.” 

Crockett is thankful for the support that teachers, faculty, and students all receive at Enid. 

“I have always enjoyed the support I’ve received from the administration, community, and parents of Enid High,” Crockett said. “I have had the pleasure of meeting so many awesome students from so many different backgrounds.” 

In 2002 Crockett took over the Academic Team and loves the experience that it provides. 

“I usually practice twice a week after school with my students,” Crockett said. “It is a great way to end the day. I get to surround myself with students who are excited about learning and always eager to learn more.” 

Outside of the classroom Crockett likes to spend his time relaxing with friends and family. He can often be found reading, watching travel videos on YouTube, and competing in trivia competitions.
