Senior Dallas Darrow has earned a reputation at Enid High School for being dependable, hardworking, and deeply grounded in both faith and family values. As a key member of the Plainsmen baseball team, Darrow brings more than athletic talent; he brings leadership, humility, and perspective shaped by his life experiences on and off the field.
For Darrow, the moment that stands out most in his life isn’t on the diamond but in his personal journey.
“I am most proud of getting baptized last year,” Darrow said.
That milestone, he says, has helped guide the way he approaches competition, relationships, and challenges. Baseball, his sport since childhood, has also taught him important lessons about perseverance and resilience.
“Baseball has taught me that in life you’re going to fail, and what you do after that is what matters,” he explained.
Darrow credits his father as his greatest influence. His role model’s example of discipline and sacrifice has shaped the way Dallas carries himself as both a student and an athlete.
“My biggest inspiration is my dad because he is the hardest worker I know and he always pushes me to be the best,” Darrow said.
Representing Enid High School means a lot to him. Wearing the Plainsmen uniform isn’t just about competing; it’s about responsibility and pride.
“The best part of representing my school as an athlete is being held to a higher standard. Knowing that people are always looking up to you and counting on you,” he said.
The best piece of advice Darrow has ever received came from his dad.
“My dad has always told me, ‘Control what you can control.’ That’s stuck with me because you can’t control umpires, weather, or other teams, only your effort and attitude,” he said.
Away from baseball, Darrow is an active member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) and looks up to Clayton Kershaw, whom he calls “the best left-handed pitcher ever.” He’s thankful for his family’s constant encouragement.
“I would like to thank my parents for always supporting me and putting lots of time, effort, and money towards my activities,” he said.
