The life of a parent can be tough at times. Not only are you in charge of raising your children and helping them become good human beings, but you also take on other roles as they grow and become involved in more things. Amber Fitzgerald says that it is important that her families keep their priorities in check. 

“I’ve worn many hats and had many titles over the years, but ‘mom’ is the most important one,” she said. “I’ve been blessed to work for organizations and leaders that believe family comes first, and they’ve provided me with the flexibility to attend the girls’ events and to be involved in their programs. It takes planning and a lot of late nights, but I don’t want to miss a minute of it. It’s a special, but short, season of life.”

Amber and her husband, Scott, have two children. Their oldest daughter, Baylee, is a junior musical theatre major at the University of Central Oklahoma. A 2019 graduate of Enid High School, she was involved as a member of the EHS pom squad, theatre program, and choir program. The youngest daughter, Cassidy, is a junior at Enid High School, where she plays attacking mid and winger for the Pacer soccer team. She also plays competitively for the Oklahoma Energy Football Club out of Edmond/Oklahoma City.”

Athletics play a big part in the lives of Fitzgerald’s two daughters, but she knows that they are going to walk away with more than just knowledge about sports. 

“High school athletes learn so many skills through sports that have nothing to do with the game,” she said. “Discipline, perseverance, teamwork, and leadership, just to name a few.”

The community of Enid has become home for Amber and her family, and she says that they could not be happier.

“I’m so glad we made the decision to raise our children in Enid,” she said. “Over the years, we have made friends who have become family. The girls have attended excellent schools with a wide variety of academic and extracurricular opportunities. Also, I am grateful to the soccer parents and coaches for generously giving their time and talents to be sure the players have what they need to be successful and for creating a strong sense of family within the EHS soccer program.”
