Paige Waldrip is a junior at Enid High School and uses a strong faith to be herself and make a difference in her world.
Paige is involved as a student athletic trainer in football, basketball, soccer and some wrestling for the Enid Pacers and Plainsmen. She is also involved with Concert Choir and Show Choir. She is a part of the National Honor Society, student council and FCA. Plus, she is a worship leader for the contemporary worship service at Central Christian Church.
She likes being part of the athletic training program at Enid High under Kayla Dixon. Dixon, an ATC (athletic trainer certified), oversees about six students in her program. Dixon says Paige is very reliable and dedicated to her responsibilities. Paige likes going to away football games, calling them fun and rewarding.
Paige has made a big commitment to music at EHS. She is part of the Concert Choir and Show Choir. The Concert Choir has received OSSAA Sweepstakes honors the past two years-the first two Sweepstakes honors in Enid High history. The Show Choir has won the Oklahoma Contest two of the last three years. Director Matt Johnson said Paige is a great kid with a great work ethic. Matt thinks she will be a section leader nest year. She takes private voice lessons from Martha O’Banion working on vocal technique and audition music for All-State Choir.
Paige is involved in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). She was asked last year to be a part of the FCA worship group and the rest is history. She is the coach and community liaison for FCA getting information out to coaches and community folks about FCA at Enid High. FCA sponsor Dennom Sullivan praised Paige’s energy and her willingness to help in so many ways and helps make Enid High FCA special.
So what advice would Paige have for a 5th or 6th grader?
“Be Yourself and don’t let people change what you believe and who you are,” she said
Paige will likely go to OSU or UCO and thinks she wants to be involved in orthopaedic medicine.
