Enid High School sophomore Lauren Hatchel is making waves both in the classroom and on the volleyball court. As a dedicated setter for the team, Hatchel’s passion for the game runs deep. What fuels her most is the thrill of competition and the bond of teamwork. This season, her drive has taken on deeper meaning as she plays not only for her teammates, but also for an injured teammate and friend, who recently broke her leg.
“I push myself for my teammates,” Hatchel shared with VYPE.
Hatchel’s journey in volleyball has been one of grit and growth. From early morning workouts to late-night practices, she’s committed herself fully to the sport. Playing club volleyball and training through the summer has kept her game sharp and in shape for the upcoming season.
A volleyball memory Hatchel recalls fondly is competing in Dallas with her club team, an unforgettable experience she shared with her best friends.
“That was the most fun I have ever had playing volleyball, and I got to do it with all of my best friends,” she said.
Off the court, Hatchel, is involved in Honors Society, student council, Pom team, and also serves as a baseball manager. After high school, she plans to attend college, earn a master’s degree, and pursue medical school to become a pediatrician.
Hatchel credits her success to those who’ve guided her, including her mom, her biggest role model, who’s always there to cheer or encourage Hatchel, and her former coach, Whitney Maple, who helped shape her volleyball IQ.
Representing Enid High School means more than just wearing a jersey to Hatchel.
“It’s about having a positive attitude on the court,” she shares.
Whether on the court or in the classroom, Lauren Hatchel embodies the spirit of Enid’s volleyball team with dedication, drive, and pride.
