Enid’s Taylor Higbee – Athlete Spotlight – Presented by Advantage Eye care

There are things in each of our lives that are motivations for us to be successful. And these can be different for each person, but they all play a big part in us reaching the goals we have set for ourselves.

Taylor Higbee is a sophomore at Enid High School, where he is a member of the school’s swim and track teams. He has something in his life that helps him to stay focused and on track.

“I’m motivated by my desire to swim for a D1 school and hopefully go to the Olympics,” Higbee said. “I also love beating my older brother.”

His work ethic will also play a big part in him reaching his goals. Taylor says that it takes a lot in order to be successful but it is worth it to see the work pay off.

“To be good at sports, it takes a lot of hard work and dedication, good habits, getting up early, eating healthy, having a positive mindset even on hard days,” he said. “I think the highlight of my career so far has been beating my brother, Cody, in the 200 IM when he was a senior and I was a freshman.”

Throughout his life, there have been different people that have had an impact on Taylor’s life and helped shape him into the person that he is today.

“My biggest role models are my dad and my older brothers,” Higbee stated. “They work really hard and don’t give up even when they hit a wall. I am also influenced by Adam Peaty, Caleb Dressel, and Michael Phelps. The best teacher in my life is probably my mom.  I don’t really like school, but she spends a lot of her time helping me to learn the things I don’t understand in school.  She teaches me in a way I get.”

Along with his sports, Taylor is also a member of the National Honor Society, Aviation, and he is involved with the youth group at his church.
