Cassidy Patterson…making the most of her Senior year!
By Jay Hoberecht
Cassidy Patterson is an 18-year-old senior at Enid High School making the most of her senior year. Cassidy is one busy young woman! She participates in EHS Show Choir, Pom, Student Council, National Honor Society, Principal Advisory Council, Pacer softball and Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). Time management is critical for Cassidy to be involved in all this and be a leader too.
And leader she is! This will be her third year in Show Choir. Cassidy uses her experience in dance to have a fun experience each spring with the award winning EHS Show Choir and Pom. She likes the student involvement with the Principal Advisory Council and helping with their projects.
Cassidy is a leader on the Pacer softball team, 30-0 and 14-0 in district. The Pacers have clinched their first ever undefeated District Championship and will host a regional in October. They have their sights on a State Championship. The senior shortstop has been a big contributor all season hitting in the two-hole and encouraging her teammates at every turn in the season. Pacer softball head coach, Chris Jensen talked about Cassidy. “For the last four years, Cassidy has been one of the pillars of our program. She has always been consistent on the field, in the classroom and as a positive role model for her teammates.” That approach earned her a scholarship at Murray State College in the Fall of next year. The best part of the season is ahead. The opportunity to play for a State Championship! The Pacers are taking it one game at a time.
Cassidy is also involved in FCA. She is part of the Outreach Committee. She likes events (See You at the Pole, Fields of Faith, Fifth Quarters and Huddle groups) and the opportunity to share and grow in her faith. FCA sponsor Jennifer Sullivan, talked with me about her. “Cassidy has such a servant heart. She can get a group energized but also has a tender heart that can serve behind the scenes. She has a love and compassion for people that is contagious.” She attends the Open Door Church and helps with children’s programing.
Cassidy had great advice for young people starting high school. She talked about managing time, getting involved, choosing good friends, making good choices and controlling yourself. Not easy but it is a solid plan for high school success. Something she has accomplished!
Oh, did I mention Cassidy also has a part-time job.
Cassidy Patterson is a unique young woman that is making the most of her senior year at Enid High School while preparing herself for the future!
