EHS Senior Leader…Kade Morris
By Jay Hoberecht
Kade Morris is a 17-year-old senior at Enid High School making the most of his senior year.. Kade is involved in Student Council, National Honor Society, the school’s Show Choir, Concert Choir and school musical. He is part of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) Leadership Team, and he plays on the Plainsmen golf team.
Kade played baseball for ten years before he discovered golf with his grandpa. He has played for EHS for two years and is in the top eight players on the team. Plainsmen golf coach Tyler Dunham told me Kade is a “great kid, highly involved at school.” Dunham went on to talk about Kade’s team leadership and his course management on the golf course. Dunham thinks Kade will have a big senior season. His best golf memory, a fifth-place finish at a Guthrie Tournament.
Morris takes Honors classes and has about 20 college credits. Morris plans on attending NOC-Enid for two years studying biological sciences with an environmental option. He wants to be involved in the wildlife focusing on water treatment.
Kade loves FCA! One of his favorite activities is Fields of Faith held in the fall. He likes so many people coming together to praise God! EHS/FCA sponsor Jennifer Sullivan said, “Kade is a natural leader. He has a strong understanding that his life is being used by God to let others know about Jesus. Kade has a wonderful sense of humor but can be open and vulnerable in a group when talking about the hard stuff. He is a light to our FCA leadership team.”
The biggest smile during the interview came when Kade started talking about being in Concert Choir, Show Choir and the school musical. He talked about all the hard work that goes into all three experiences, but the productions make it all worth it. Last year was Percy Jackson and this year’s musical is still unannounced. Think about attending in the spring. It’s a great way to spend a fun night with the family.
I asked Kade what advice he would give an eighth grader entering high school. Kade was quick to say get involved. He paused and added that a solid friend group was very important.
Kade Morris is in for a fast-paced super fun senior year. Kade Morris making a difference at Enid High School!
